It was born in the early 1940s from jam sessions led by alto saxophonist Charlie Parker , trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie , pianists Bud Powell and Thelonious Monk , and drummers Kenny Clarke and Max Roach , in and around a club called Minton's Playhouse in Harlem. Bebop took all of these elements to the extreme. Before Bebop, if you wanted to improvise, you could get away with knowing little music theory and largely just feeling your way through the song – using your ear to find what sounded good. With the arrival of Bebop, feeling was not enough – you had to know and understand. Because of this I have decided to write out 5 different A sections of my favorite bebop tunes for guitar with tab, notation and examples of each song recorded by a jazz guitarist. Bebop or bop is a style of jazz developed in the early to mid-1940s in the United States, which features compositions characterized by a fast tempo, complex chord progressions with rapid chord changes and numerous changes of key, instrumental virtuosity, and improvisation based on a combination of harmonic structure, the use of scales and occasional references to the melody. Monk's 1947 Blue Note recordings are the perfect introduction to the pianist's earliest and best bebopping. The star backing here includes appearances by Art Blakey, Lou Donaldson, Kenny Dorham, Milt Jackson and Lucky Thompson. Five of the 21 tracks featured on this collection are alternate takes, but the rest is pure beboppin' gold. " Tank! " is the series' opening song. The song, written by Yoko Kanno and performed by Seatbelts, has an extensive alto saxophone solo played by Masato Honda, as well as a fill part at the end.
